"woven wind," as handloom cottons are sometimes called, and nothing is more true of this fabric. so fine, with tiny and delicate threads, that two layers is still a bit sheer. but it might be the softest and airiest fabric your skin has ever touched. the loose shape moves with you, as the fabric is so fine.
it takes 1 day to weave 1 meter of this fabric as the threads are so thin and the border is woven by hand. in all, a weaver spends 6 days on just one caftan. it is woven in rural villages in west bengal by skilled artisans who have family handlooms in their homes.
the ivory sabi sand fabric is woven on a jacquard loom with a traditional temple border in black. slubs and occasional colored threads are common and normal.
take care when wearing and cleaning this fabric. we recommend dry cleaning with minimal chemicals. our friends in india say to just soak in cold water, no soap, and air dry. we leave it to you!
